New Milestone at Pisces

December 2nd: Well weather is finally absolutley perfect, clear sunny skies, warm days, nights are now cooler, whales are showing up. Tough life but somebody has to do it.
We have just reached a new milestone, our best month ever for striped marlin 2050 total and they are still running.

80 Marlin in 3 days!!!!

Thanks

My party and I had the absolute pleasure of fishing with Captain Steve, and his crew Rudy, Lobo and Victor, aboard Spartacus at Sea.

I have chartered “dozens” of boats over the years. I have never experienced a captain and crew that were so friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to keep all of us happy. They were timely and efficient. Everything was always perfectly organized, whether it was as simple as coffee and breakfast first thing in the morning to the equipment working, it was a truly an excellent time. These guys never even stopped for a lunch break!

Steve and his crew run a “tight ship”. The boat was spotless each and every day that we arrived. Even with his broken leg, Steve would make sure that we had our music of choice playing or had the food laid out for us. It seemed that no matter what the situation was, Steve and the guys had either already thought of it, or would jump on it and handle it without haste.

The 4 of them worked in unison on this boat. There was never an argument or disagreement about who was supposed to be doing “this job” (which I have seen all too often on other charters).

I really cannot express what an incredible time we had. Coming from the Philadelphia/New Jersey area, we spend 2 entire days traveling to and from Cabo in order to have 3 days of fishing. THIS trip is what we had always hoped for – thanks to Steve and his crew.

By the way, we caught some fish too! On day 1, we landed 29 striped marlin. On day 2, another 26. And on day 3 we landed another 25 marlin, plus 5 dorado. Steve’s goal was for us to land 100 marlin in 3 days, and I think he worked harder at it than we did, otherwise there is no question we would have done it!

Please extend our gratitude to the boat owner as well. Steve and the crew take exceptional care of the boat, inside and out, as well as the fishing equipment. Their pride shows not only while we are on the water fishing, but while Spartacus is docked.

Steve and his crew showed a genuine passion to work hard for us each and every day. I’m an owner in a business, and know that I appreciate when we receive a compliment. To say that Steve and the guys did a great job would be an understatement. I would highly recommend Steve and his crew, along with Spartacus at Sea, to anyone who was considering a charter.

Testimonial...Ron and Mary Smart...

I just could not wait to send you these pictures so I downloaded them from our hotel room here in CABO. Monday 11-10-08 was our anniversary and we caught 6 Marlin's with out friends Rod and Kathy Applegate. It was the first time either of them had ever gone bill fishing or even off shore fishing. They had a blast. Ronny and I went out again today and caught 4 Dorado, 2 Marlins's and I caught a Wahoo. The fishing was just awesome. This is my 3rd trip fishing with the Pisces Fleet and it's been great each time. I am enclosing some pictures that maybe you could put on your web-site.

Thanks again,

Ron and Mary Helen Smart and

Mal and Tony, from New Zealand share their story...

Wow! What can we say! Two fisherman traveling from New Zealand desperate to hook up their first Marlin, having tried in many different countries with little success. Our date with destiny was Monday 20th October 2008. On board The Valerie, Roberto the Captain showed us his expertise in finding the right spot. The sea was boiling with Marlin. Two lines were cast out and we got a double hit. At last a chance to catch my first ever marlin only for another boat to run over my line and snap the marlin off. Such disappointment! I thought that was my only chance. But no, Roberto seeing the despair on my face found again another spot. Again a double hit, this time we brought home the two striped marlin! whoopee! what a fantastic feeling! But that was not the end! Again another double hit, then another! A hard fight with one that was desperate to get away. Eventually landing 9 striped marlin and 1 tuna, plus 2 marlin that snapped off between the two of us. Our dreams had most definitely been realized, Roberto we can't thank you and your crew enough for working extremely hard to find us our fish. Your eyes were always scanning the area looking for the ideal place to place the lines. You were quick thinking and got the lines out very quickly enabling many hook-ups. We have now fulfilled our dreams of catching our first marlin. Now of course we will now endeavor to catch our first blue.

On our next trip to Cabo we hope to hook up with you again.

Thanks for a great trip

Los Cabos Billfish Tournament results

Friday the 17th was the last fishing day for the tournament that kicked of the season, the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament, in its 10th year. Unfortunately there were not a whole lot of blue marlin around. Only one fish qualified, which swept the winnings. Valerie had a fish that came up 10 lbs short of the minimum weight of 300 lbs, for a team from Finland, which was disappointing and one 300 lb plus fish was disqualified as it was mutilated. Other than these there were more striped marlin and dorado than anything else.

Here are the results:

DORADO DIVISION

Summer time, dorado 52 lbs total winnings $18,883.00 us

WAHOO DIVISION

Hang and high, wahoo 44.5 lbs total winnings $11,883 us

TUNA DIVISION

Norbert Images...

Hurricane has no effect on Cabo San Lucas.
The picture of the marina was taken at 10.30 am on Friday, Oct. 10th.

The port was close as a precaution, but we have no rain, now wind and pretty normal waves.

The nearby storm did produce a beautiful sunrise. Photo taken at 6.45 am close to the Old Lighthouse.

We expect the port to be open tomorrow Saturday Oct. 11th.
