Mil gracias

Sinceramente

Jorge Francisco Cu Ambriz

Camping in Baja

Hi anglers,

This time I want to share with you my camping trip to Playa La Perla in Mulege.

Its Easter for you, and Semana Santa for us, so the kids are out of school and I needed to find a way to get them tired...really tired, so, we went camping.

There are several spots in Baja were you can camp, my personal favorites are Mulege and Cabo Pulmo on the beach and on the mountains, Boca de la Sierra and Cañon de la Zorra, the last two are great if you go after the first rains, as the water will be running down from La Sierra de la Laguna and you can swim in the arroyos.

Mulege is between 6 to 8 hours away from Cabo and its a beautiful road to drive, however, make sure you bring a PSP or have a dvd player or get ready for 6 hours of "are we there yet".

Here is the map from Cabo to Mulege if you take the San Jose highway, it will take a little longer to get there, maybe 8 or 9 hours as you want to stop on the little towns between San Jose and La Paz, like Miraflores, Los Barriles, and you have to stop at the Cactus Forest.

Here are some pictures of the trip, this time I took the short road and went towards Todos Santos, they fixed the highway from there to La Paz and its 4 lanes now so you can get there in an hour or less if you are a maniac like us or one hour and a half if you are a decent driver.

This is the sunrise about 20 minutes from our destination.

This is our destination, as you can see, there were a few campers already, the little huts are optional, they cost 60 pesos per night and they include water for washing dishes and take a quick shower, there is a rustic toilet for the ladies and you can go find your own firewood or the locals will sell it at 3 pesos per log.

The place is very safe as the locals keep watch and if you need to go to town and get supplies, you dont have to worry about leaving your stuff there.

Here are a couple of shots of the same beach from another trip when it was not too crowded.

Here is a closer look at the hutts, usually, you can sleep right on the sand but this time was a bit cold and quite windy so we had to set up a tent.

If you decide to go there some time, if you wake up really early, right when the sun is rising, you are almost guaranteed that you will see dolphins swimming right on the bay, unfortunately I couldnt find the camera so I owe you guys that picture, also, if you bring your kayak, you can get right next to them and play with them.

You can also bring your rods and fish from shore, there were people catching some sea bass and if you have your snorkel gear, you can get tons of clams and mussels.

Amsterdam Red Light District also offers fishing...for real fish.

AS WE HAVE MENTIONED BEFORE WE HAVE FRIENDS AND CLIENTS FROM EVERYWHERE….EVEN THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT IN AMSTERDAM…PICTURED HERE IS BERT VISREIZEN FROM BELGIUM, WHO LEADS A TRIP TO CABO EVERY YEAR FOR DUTCH ANGLERS……
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear all,

Over the last couple of years I fished throughout different countries and continents on sometimes even weird places.
Last weekend was absolutely one of them when we fished the Amsterdam Red Light district; although at times a bit distracted, we still managed to catch a few fish!!

Best regards
Bert

This is not just a guys sport...

Pictured here are Wendy Berger, Brenda Casey, Kathy Bradford and Kathy Carey from St. Loius Missouri.

Dear Tracy, Juan, Oscar, Adriana and the Rest of the Pisces Office: My wife and three of her girlfriends fished on “Ni Modo” on Monday, February 23, 2009 with Captain Edgar Renteria. Attached is a photo of one of the 9 striped marlin the girls caught and released that day at the Golden Gate Bank. Your office requested that we forward this photo to you, and I thought this photo might look good on your website given that you probably seldom have charters with females only.

Thanks as always for the excellent fishing and outstanding service. We will see later this month, and again in April.

Sincerely, John Carey

Pirates of the Pacific

We had a few reports of pirates been stealing from our boats, after a long investigation, sources lead us to the thieves, unfortunately, we didnt have enough evidence to convict them.

Here they are, be careful, they are still on the loose.

Testimonial from Chris Miller

Hi Tracy,

Just a quick note to thank you, Ady, the crew of Valerie and the whole Pisces Team for a really memorable days fishing.
The preparations and organization was first class, with quick responses to my E-Mails and answers to the questions therein. For a client who was in Cabo for only 7 1/2 hours on a cruise ship, getting 6 1/2 hours on the water and almost 5 hours fishing in was a fantastic achievement.
Everything went smooth as clockwork, I was met within 10 minutes of getting to the cruise dock, the paperwork was all ready, 'Valerie' was waiting close by (no need to walk right round to her mooring) and 'she' was ready to go (bait, beer and gear all on board).
Now, about 'Valerie' and the crew. Firstly, thank you for the no cost upgrade. With time not on my side a fast boat to get me to 'Golden Gate' was essential and 'Valerie' delivered with a fast and comfortable ride. With my late start we were one of the last boats to get there but no bother, Capt Roberto put me straight on the fish with a lively 100lb Stripey hooked up within 20 minutes of arriving. A 25 minute fight later on 20lb Penn International stand-up gear and the fish was mine - a couple of quick photo's, a textbook release by deckhand Raymundo and my day was made.
3 good size Dorado and another stripey around 120lb (also released) completed the day - fantastic. Chasing and casting to 'tailing' marlin is something new to a (European) Atlantic angler who usually trolls lures or 'bait'n'switches' - reel good fun. I'll be back!!!
The crew really know their stuff and kept me right all day, all the tackle was top-notch and the boat was superb - ship shape and Bristol fashion as we say in the U.K.
Only 2 regrets;
1. I wish I had had more time. My best marlin day is 2 blues and my best day overall is 1 blue, 1 spearfish and 2 wahoo, so to get 5 fish is fantastic, another hour and I'm certain Capt Roberto would have got me that 3rd Marlin.
2. I wish I had taken my wife with me. She has always wanted to catch a Billfish but won't take on a big blue using heavy chair tackle. These stripeys however would be right up her street. (We have been trying to get her a spearfish for 10 years or so in the Canary Islands, but never get one when she is on the boat). Next time I'm in Cabo I'm going to book 2 or 3 days with you guys - and the wife is coming too, so watch out!!!!
To finish off, what a great day, what a great experience, what a great team. Thank you Pisces Sport fishing. I will be recommending you to my friends, clients and also the cruise line.

Chris M from the U.K.
