Six Marlin in One Day! Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report for May 14-20, 2016

MARLIN:  We are so pleased that fishing has stayed on track and continues to improve after a season of scarcity during the last few months.  Even with a big moon the fish were not deterred and gave a good showing all week.  To give you an idea of how great it’s been let’s look at the aptly named Brett and Melissa Fisher from Texas; they managed to hook, fight and release SIX striped marlin, ranging in size from 100 to 160 LBS aboard Tracy Ann at the 11.50 spot.  Hot Rod had a hot day on May 16th, when they released five striped marlin up to 160 LBS as well as landing a tasty wahoo for the table with a group from Washington D.C. aboard headed up by Richard Battaglia.  A couple of days later they again were able to catch five marlin  with Wes and Susan Sellew on board.  Another boat that did well was Bill Collector with four marlin released, also at the 11.50 spot for the McLaurin and Smith families from Livingston, Texas.  Not to be left out were the Rebecca and Ruthless each with four marlin apiece released on May 20th.  Other boats released between one and three marlin with those not catching generally people that got seasick and who wanted to come back early.  Live bait was absolutely the way to go and the best location was the 11.50 spot on the Cortez side.  Marlin was the top catch this week, with seventy percent of our boats catching, giving us a total of 109 fish of which 107 were released – several fish tagged.

OTHER SPECIES:  We continue to see a variety of sharks being caught in the same area as the marlin all of them are being released.  Andrea a 28 ft Uniflite released two thresher sharks up to 100  LBS, a 70 LB pilot shark and also released a striped marlin for Glen McLaughlin and Sara Madsen.  The varieties of shark caught this week were pilot, hammerhead, thresher, mako and lemon and twenty percent of our charters hooked them.  Dorado catches were a little better this week at thirteen percent and this should increase as we approach summer.  Bill Collector caught five small dorado, two small tuna and released a pilot shark and a striped marlin for Art Muff and Nicole Scarduzio.  Tuna catches were slow with just a few fish caught around the 10 LB mark.  Inshore the fishing has slowed down somewhat with the pangas being hit or miss, nevertheless twenty percent of the boats caught a trigger fish, skipjacks, grouper, sierra, jack crevalle and small roosters.  Mid week there was a flurry of wahoo activity for boats fishing a bit closer to Cabo with some fish up to 60 LBS.  George from Cleveland out on the panga Tres Amigos caught a 40 LB wahoo, two tuna and thee jack crevalles.

LOCATION: 11.50 for marlin and shark, Cabeza de Ballena and Lighthouse for smaller game.  Difficult to fish the Pacific as the wind blew hard all week.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: Clear sunny skies, windy on Pacific, seas calm to moderate.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report for May 7th to 13th, 2016

MARLIN: We are sooooo happy to finally have some stable striped marlin catches and in fact they were our top catch this week.  Pisces Rebecca lead the way with four marlin up to 140 LBS and a pilot shark released on May 7th for Michael Francesconi and party from Georgia at the 11.50 spot.  Michael’s friends were out on Tracy Ann the same day and managed to release three marlin in the same area.  It’s easy to see why Rebecca is one of our top boats, as they again released four marlin up to 170 LBS on May 9th for anglers Charlie Piermarini, Jack Piermarini and Bob James – all on live bait at the 11.50 spot.  Tracy Ann had another triple header day on May 11th for Jason and Christy White from Colorado, once again the 11.50 spot was the place and caballito the bait.  Back to the 31 ft. Bertram Rebecca they had an amazing day for Trey Simon, Kristi Istre Ricky & Angie Chavez from Texas, with three striped marlin up to 160 LBS and FIVE pilot sharks up to 120 LBS, all released – thank you.  The Engel families, fellow Texans, were out on Valerie the same day and were pleased to release three marlin up to 140 LBS.  Fifty two percent of our charters caught marlin this week with many have more than one fish, giving us a total catch of 54 fish, with all but two released.  Our overall catch rate was 80% for all species, though we noted that those anglers that opted for a half day had significantly lower catch rates – moral of the story; take a full day.

OTHER SPECIES:  So plentiful are sharks right now that they almost need a dedicated section, of course the shark ban is in place until July 31st, but that doesn’t stop you from catching and releasing them.  This week we had pilot sharks – local name but probably silky or bronze whalers, a blue shark and threshers. Shambala our 60 FT Hatteras caught three thresher sharks up to 180 LBS as well as a pilot shark for Maarten Durent and friends from New Zealand.  Overall thirty nine percent of our charters caught sharks with a total of 30 caught and released.  It was nice to actually see some dorado this week, not many, but at least a start. Ruthless out on a half day managed to catch six up to 18 LBS eight miles out from the Lighthouse.  Just five percent of charters found dorado.  Tuna catches began to show this week as well with seven percent of boats managing to hook a few, most were school size fish, though Bill Collector was the exception with a 75 LB tuna caught by Art Muff from New Jersey, who was also very fortunate to release two striped marlin and a jack crevalle.  There is still small stuff available in shore but with the big game catches vastly improved not many boats tried for these species unless they were on half days, as there wasn’t enough time on these shorter trips to get to the marlin grounds and back.  Nine percent of our boats caught a mix of skipjacks, sheephead, triggerfish, lady fish and grouper.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report April 23rd to 29th 2016

Bentley caught his 1st Marlin ever aboard our Tracy Ann. In 2 fishing trips our little friend and his dad Matthew released 1 striped marlin and 9 sharks (Pilot & Thresher shark)!

 
BILLFISH: Marlin catches increased this week, but not by much. Almost all marlin caught this week were caught this Friday, April 29th, and all out at the 11:50 Spot.  Almost every boat that headed out that way caught at least one marlin, with the Ruthless and Hot Rod catching 3 each.  David Sandoval and friends from Austin, Texas, the anglers aboard the Ruthless, also landed two Pilot sharks that averaged around 120lbs, which they released along with their marlins.
 
Keith Johnson from Georgia had a busy day out on the Bill Collector on Wednesday. The crew headed out to Punta Gorda and hit the jackpot, catching 1 small striped marlin, 1 pilot shark, 7 skipjacks and 1 amberjack.  All fish were caught on caballito bait. The Knot Workin was also one of the lucky few to not only catch the marlin they were looking for, but also land the only yellowfin tuna caught this week.  They caught the 25 lb. tuna along with a small grouper a few miles out from Las Viudas.  Pisces boats caught a total of 20 striped marlin this week.

OTHER SPECIES: Shark and small game fish have remained the majority caught this week once again.  The Howards and Mr. Dailey, anglers from Washington who fished aboard the Andrea got their daily work out with their catch, a total of 37 fish, mostly triggerfish and ladyfish, as well as a small grouper.  All their catches were found out of Migriño, on caballito and ballyhoo bait. 
Another busy day was for the Ruthless on Monday, with anglers Michael and Jill Steinbacher reeling in 12 triggerfish, 8 groupers and 5 ladyfish, also out of Migriño.
 
The panga 3 Amigos decided to stay close to shore and found themselves catching 2 sierras, 1 roosterfish and 1 jack crevelle, all out from the Old Lighthouse.
 
We have also been hearing about rising tuna and wahoo bite out from Medanos in San Jose.  Fisherman from over that way have been starting to see and catch wahoo and see schools of tuna, so we are hoping to see more catches of both of these next week.  For now, only two wahoo were caught this week, one aboard the Rebecca, caught on green/black lure at Medanos and the other caught aboard the Flora T on caballito bait, both weighed around 20-25 lbs.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report April 16th to 22nd 2016

BILLFISH: This week was another slow one for marlin with a gorgeous full moon not helping either.  Pisces Rebecca was one of the few boats that had a good day on April 19th off of Punta Gorda.  Jon Svendsen and Jean Hubler, repeat Pisces anglers, did very well to release two striped marlin, one a baby 60 lb’er and its bigger brother at 130 LBS with ballyhoo and a blue and white lure doing the trick.  The day before this, Rebecca was again one of the few boats to find marlin, on this occasion at Medano Blanco, a nice fish over 180 LBS that took a live caballito.  Not only did they catch this large striper they also caught a wahoo for the Feasler family from Michigan.  Nobody could say that the crew on Tracy Ann doesn’t try; they headed out forty two miles with the Desmarais family from Connecticut on board and were rewarded with the release of a striped marlin.  They were also kind enough to fish out a 30 LB turtle that was wrapped in a plastic bag and return it alive and well to the water.  Pisces Valerie had an active day for Dennis and Tracy Bohrer from Wisconsin; first off they caught a 130 LB striped marlin at Los Arcos, and then had fun at Migrino catching nine triggerfish, three ladyfish and three mulejinos.  Several other boats did see marlin and even hooked them, but getting them to the boat was another question.  Pisces anglers caught a total of fifteen striped marlin this week.

OTHER SPECIES:  Just a few yellowfin tuna were caught this week and were not anything to write home about at 5 to 10 LBS.  A couple of sharks were caught this week, one was a 60 LB pilot shark aboard Valerie and a 150 LB hammerhead shark was released from the panga Poseidon by French angler Luc Trasleglise. We remind anglers that a ban on catching sharks will go into effect on May 1st; all sharks have to be released between May and July.  More than half of the boats caught good quantities of smaller game this week.  The most numerous fish to be caught were ladyfish, followed by grouper, triggerfish, babosas, mujelinos, then sheephead, skipjacks, amberjack and red snapper.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report April 9th to 15th 2016

BILLFISH:  Marlin numbers were up slightly from last week, but are still nowhere as good as we would like them to be.  We checked last years’ fish report and saw that it was pretty much the same as this year.  The weather is still pretty cold for this time of year and it has been rather windy on the Pacific side, which could be a contributing factor.  Captain Orlando out on his 28 ft. Andrea started out the week well, as he heading to the 11.50 spot and Punta Gorda with Andres Villafante and friends from Mexico on board; they were very fortunate to release two striped marlin, one a baby at 40 LBS and the other perhaps it’s daddy at 140 LBS.  They also caught and released a 90 LB pilot shark on live caballito.  This same day Bill Collector had an action packed day, fishing a little further up in the Sea of Cortez at Destiladeras with our very own Melissa Espino and friends on board.  They were able to release a striped marlin, hammerhead shark snapper and couple of triggerfish.  We were surprised to see a couple of early season sailfish, but then again water is warmer than normal. Adam Padgett released a nice 75 LB sailfish twenty five mile out from San Jose aboard Pisces Listo.  On April 11th the crew of the Tracy Ann were able to show off their marlin skills and were able to release a couple of striped marlin that were estimated at 130 & 160 LBS at the 11.50 spot from New Jersey anglers the Moore family.  Another boat that had a two marlin day was Andrea for David Mays, who got both of his fish also at the 11.50 spot on live bait.  There were plenty of boats that spotted marlin but just could not get a hook up. Pisces anglers caught a total of 19 billfish this week; all but one released.

OTHER SPECIES:  Where the marlin lacked, the smaller game took up the slack with multiple catches possible of a variety of fish in a day.  Let’s take the Andrea with the Zelms from Arizona aboard: they released a large 220 LB hammerhead shark, and caught a sheephead, 6 ladyfish, 2 grouper, 3 triggerfish and 2 pintos.  Or Tracy Ann fishing at Migrino on the Pacific for the Murray party; they caught 12 grouper, 10 babosas, 2 sheephead, 6 red snapper, 1 ladyfish, 2 mulejinos and 1 sea bass in other words a total of 35 fish on a day trip.  One of the most enviable catches was aboard Hot Rod who caught two wahoo for John Pritchard.  There were some tuna catches this week but the fish tended to be small at no more than 15 LBS and catches of up to eight fish, usually at San Jaime.  A couple of small dorado were also caught.  To summarize plentiful catches of grouper, triggerfish, ladyfish, some snappers, sierra, skipjacks, yellowtail and sharks.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report March 26th to April 8th 2016

BILLFISH: Marlin have been conspicuously absent from Cabo the past couple of months with just a few caught each week and though many more were sighted, getting them on a hook was a real challenge.  Nevertheless towards the end of this report we began to see more of them and more anglers were rewarded with hooks ups and some even had multiple marlin days.  It looks like things are about to change!  Pisces Bill Collector had an outstanding day for Todd Huerkamp and Laney Dobbs from Texas, fishing of Punta Gorda, where they manage to release THREE striped marlin on live bait, in the 100 to 130 LB class.  Yahoo had given up on the day and was heading back in when they were able to hook two striped marlin just three miles off of Lands’ End for Scott and Jim from Chicago.  Andrea was the only other boat to have more than one marlin in a day, with a double header for Dane & Blake Wilson from Montana.  Our boats caught a total of twenty six marlin this week, with many others spotted but not tempted.  However, Pisces anglers caught plenty of fish this report easily adding up to over 1,000 fish, between all the different smaller species.  In a way it’s been good that the marlin have been slow, as captains have been forced to try new techniques and fish for other species, developing skills that may have rusted a bit when the marlin is so plentiful.  Some of the best catches were the mixed bag days that was perfect for families fishing over Easter as everybody on board got to catch something.  A group visiting from New Jersey, fishing aboard Bill Collector and managed to release a striped marlin as well as a 150 LB pilot shark for the group headed up by Don Michael.  Lake Schiefelbein and family had a great time on Ruthless released a striped marlin at Migrino then caught eight groupers, six ladyfish and a yellow tail.  The Staver family from Chicago must have been tired after their outing on Valerie with a 160 LB striped marlin released as well as twenty one triggerfish, two groupers and a roosterfish to boot.

OTHER SPECIES:  Eighty percent of our charters caught small game fish this week, though a few boats did get “skunked”, mainly those that opted for a half day.  Those that took the full day had a bonanza on triggerfish – fun on ultra-light tackle- roosterfish, snappers, lady fish, Barbosas (slimeys), jack crevalle, sheephead, skipjacks, jack crevalle, sierra and various types and sizes of grouper.  One of our pangas released a 150 LB hammerhead shark for Tom Kledzinski from Chicago, who also caught three skipjacks. Twenty eight foot Andrea had a busy day with anglers from Reno, Nevada on board, with a pilot shark released, fifteen ladyfish, three babosas and a grouper.  Pisces Tiburon (which means shark) aptly released a large hammerhead shark for Mark Shmiedl from Ohio as well as good numbers of trigger and lady fish.  The Saline’s and Bienkowskis from California fished together on Andrea and released a 100 LB thresher shark, eleven ladyfish, a grouper, yellowtail, ten triggerfish and two babosas.  Tracy Ann had a nice day catching eight groupers, two of the unusual and beautiful sheephead, plus trigger and ladyfish.  Yellowfin tuna catches were slow with just five percent of boats finding  this species.  Bill Collector was able to catch fourteen up to 25 LBs at San Jaime for Sam Sheriden and friends from Canada.  The Richter party from Fayetteville, North Carolina were out with the crew on Knot Workin’ who are tuna aficionados – they got the anglers into the tuna and managed to land eight up to 40 LBS.  Pisces Adriana caught a really nice 56 LB grouper for the Stephenson’s from Colorado who also caught another grouper, two sheephead, three red snapper, eight ladyfish and a couple of triggerfish. 

WEATHER: Quite windy and overcast some days on Pacific, now clear and flat. Calmer seas on the Cortez.
LOCATION: Pacific for smaller game and tuna, Migrino, Margaritas, San Jaime, marlin starting to show up on Cortez side between Santa Maria and Punta Gorda.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report March 19th to 25th 2016

We are seeing more Marlins as long as we are moving forward to April and Striped Marlin peak season; some of the Stripers are starting to be spotted over the Sea of Cortes such as Chileno and the 95 fishing spot, even though the moon waxed in the middle of the week we had good action. Pisces 42ft “Yahoo” released a Striped Marlin using mackerel as live bait, estimated weight 130 lb. at Pozo Cota  for John & Ryan Hurst, Julie Keller and Rachel Gunderson visiting from Reno, Nevada. Pisces 31ft “Tiburon” got tight lines with a Striped Marlin (130 lb.)  for Gary Muisuf's group  and  Pisces 35ft “Listo” commanded by Captain Benito made the day for the Smith's  Family from British Columbia, Ca. releasing a Striped Marlin (130 lb.) in the same spot Pozo Cota, Pacific side. With consisting numbers in previous reports “Hot Rod” 42ft vessel released three Striped Marlins more outside of La Bomba, estimated weight 100, 130, 150 lbs.  John III, James, and John Jr. Mattingly from Granite City, Illinois were excited!. “Yahoo” 42ft Pisces gave the fight with another Striped Marlin! (130lb.) and  twelve Trigger fish at Cerro de Arena and  Pozo Cota for Susan Reif and William Tomrose from Pen Valley, California. Pisces 35ft “Knot Workin”vessel got tight lines for a Striped Marlin and three Yellow Tails (10-25 lbs.) at San Cristobal and Margaritas for Eduardo Roldan's group visiting from Mexico City.  Pisces 35ft “Valerie” had a great day releasing a Striped Marlin at Migriño (140lb.) twelve Lady Fish, twelve Babosas and four Groupers (6- 8 lbs.)  Good action for Mark Holmes, Scott Selby, Kevin Thil, John Renner and Phillip Barbosa from Atlanta, Georgia. Pisces 42ft“Yahoo” one more time!, released another Striped Marlin (140 lb.), eleven Trigger Fish and Skip Jack at Faro Viejo from Jim Farr, Eileen Adams, Dan Morgan and Lynne Adams from San Antonio, Texas. Pisces 28ft “Andrea” released two Striped Marlins (130 lbs.) outside of Chileno and the 95 spot for Steve Lanser, Joe Lanser, Hong Nguyen, John Lanser. Pisces 31ft “Tracy Ann” got another Marlin at the 95 spot with live bait for Thomas, Thomas Jr. and Gregory Madsen from Minnesota. Twenty three percent of Pisces anglers released a total of 16 Striped Marlin all Marlin were successfully released.

Yellow Tails made the fun to young family Roldán Acosta and friends visiting from Mexico City, aboard the 35ft “Knot Working” with Captain Tito.

OTHER SPECIES: Yellow fin tuna and Dorado still in slow numbers however Pisces 32ft “Bill Collector” brought three Yellow Fin Tunas  (22lbs.) and released a Pilot shark at San Jaime for Derek, McKenzie Kline and Cameron Hutchnes from Reno, Nevada.  On March 19th “Bill Collector” ran again at San Jaime and got nine Tunas and another Pilot shark successfully released for Joe, Victoria Barnes from Alberta, Canada and on March 21s one Dorado and Yellow Fin Tuna (20lbs.) for Kirk and Graham Baker from Dallas, Tx. Pisces 31ft “La Brisa” reeled a 20 lb. Wahoo at La Antena for Ida  Gustavson's  group from Colorado. As to bottom fishing, this still booms in different fishing areas over the Pacific side:  Pisces 28ft “Adriana” got twelve Groupers (15 lbs.) three Estacudos, eight Lady Fish and one Scorpion fish for Gino & Nicolas Gerbasi from Chicago, Ilinois. Pisces 28ft “Andrea” got a 25lb. Yellow Tail, two Sheepheads (15 lbs.)  Red Snappers, four Babosas using bait chunks at Gaspareño for James Vaughan, William Carlisle and Samuel Gore visiting from Alaska. Pisces 31ft “Cabolero” did its magic  releasing two Jack Crevelles, two Roosters and one Spanish Mackerel estimated weight 15-20 lbs. Pisces 31ft “Ruthless”  got one Red Snapper, two Groupers (20 lbs.), good size Sea Bass (30 lb.)  and six Trigger fish for Randy Smith's family, visiting from Tennessee.
Ten percent of our Pisces Anglers brought 23 Yellow Fin Tunas and one Dorado, The 65% percent with an incredible variety of species: Triggerfish, Amber Jack, Yellow Tail, Ladyfish, Groupers, Spanish mackerel, Rooster, Red Snapper, Sea Bass, Jack Crevelle, Sheephead, Mojarra, Babosas and Scorpio fish.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report, Feb 20 to 26th, 2016

BILLFISH: We have had slow fishing for marlin and as we approach the March “doldrums”, they are certainly living up to their name.  A big moon did not help either, but that said the marlin were hard to locate anyhow.  Nevertheless our crews came through for some anglers that were in the right place at the right time with a hungry fish in vicinity.  First striped marlin of the week was aboard Pisces Valerie Mike McCoy & Dickson Ganstra from Iowa.  They were fishing in front of Margaritas on the Pacific and hooked a small 70 LB striped marlin which they released, followed by a 25 LB dorado which they kept.  To keep the anglers busy the crew set them up on light tackle & they spent the afternoon reeling triggerfish to the boat; the majority released.  Utah anglers Michael & Sandy Kelly, along with friends, were some of the lucky anglers to catch a marlin this week too; out on Pisces La Brisa on February 23rd, theirs was a huge striped marlin, estimated at 200 LBS, but thankfully released - they also got one yellowfin and eight skipjacks fishing at Los Arcos.  Adriana released a striped marlin for the Chilivetis family from Texas, which was estimated at 120 LBS as did Bill Collector, though theirs was a little larger at around 140 LBS.  Last marlin for us of the week was aboard C Rod, caught off of the Old Lighthouse with an approximate weight of 120 LBS, also released; angler was James Resendez from Texas.  Just 5 marlin for us this week, but thankfully all were released.  Smaller game took up the slack on most days and Pisces boats achieved an overall catch rate of 70% for all species combined, dominating the marina when most other fleets came back “skunked”. Our boys worked harder and went further.

OTHER SPECIES:  Yellowfin tuna were our saving grace this week with thirty percent of our charters catching fish in the 10 to 20 LB class, though some boats found fish up to 40 LBS.  Thomas & Brenda Reed from Louisiana headed out 30 miles aboard Pisces Andrea but were glad they did when they ended up catching twenty two tuna.  La Brisa had a good tuna day on February 24th, for Jeffery Pries and party from Michigan with seventeen tuna in the area.  Tuna champs of the week were a group of anglers headed up by Rory Anderson from Utah, with thirty tuna caught 25 miles from the Herradura.  We never thought we would see a week where triggerfish were the top catch but it happened; we had almost 200 this week- not exactly big game, but fun if you gear down to light tackle.  Small game accounted for the majority of our catches this week, dominated by the triggerfish but also with lesser numbers of skipjack, roosterfish, ladyfish, grouper, yellowtail, snapper, sierra and pompano.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report 13th to 19th February 2016

BILLFISH:  On February 13th David Mitchell and Bill Hicks visiting from Hobbs, New Mexico went out aboard the Pisces 38ft “C Rod” vessel, these lucky anglers reeled the first Swordfish of the season!, a beautiful 115 lbs spotted outside of  Jaime Banks using live bait.  There was a few Striped Marlin spotted outside of Palmilla area in San Jose del Cabo, a symptom of the fishing transition that soon will move over the Sea of Cortes to warmer waters.  Pisces 42ft “Hot Rod” vessel traveled to Palmilla and got tight lines for Dan Cunniffe, Mike Ceseña and Jim McKenna that released 130 lbs  Striped Marlin with a large sardine locally called “sardineta”.  They were visiting from Pittsford, New York.  Pisces 42ft “Hot Rod” again got tight lines the next day for Texas group Harry & Elizabeth Sturges, Charlotte & Brooke Pezell, which released another 120 lbs Striped Marlin.  Pisces “Rebecca” released a Sailfish, weight estimated 90 lbs, using a purple lure outside of Migriño for the group of Cindy Casso visiting from Kenly, North Carolina.  One more time hot “Hot Rod” vessel got  and successfully released one Striped Marlin, one dorado and a wahoo weight estimated 25 lbs about  40 miles out of the Hill for the Sturges group visiting from Texas.  Eight percent of the Pisces anglers released Billfish which consist in 3 Striped Marlin, 1 Swordfish and a Sailfish.

OTHER SPECIES:  Tuna still being the main catch,  Pisces 32ft “Bill Collector” reeled ten yellow fin tunas  between 30 to 45 lbs with cedar plugs outside of the Golden gate spot for Phil and Michelle Timothy from Utah.  “Valerie” 35ft Pisces vessel got tight lines on twenty three tunas at La Ballena spot, getting everybody in the action: Monica Vining, John Park, John Ernest, Morgan Harris, Elizabeth and Kris Sokolowski visiting from Atlanta, Georgia.  31 ft Pisces “Tiburon” traveled 44 miles out of the Hill and reeled twenty four tunas for David Ryan´s group visiting from Phoenix, Arizona.  Pisces “Rebecca” did good bringing twelve tunas between 10 to 30 lbs outside of La Ballena for George Schneider and Sarah Adamczyk from Alberta, Canada.  Pisces 31ft “Tracy Ann” reeled twenty six tunas 22 lbs outside of Pescadero and San Pedrito area for Joseph Kennedy, David Farrell, Walter Oates and James Hall visiting from Spartenburg, South Carolina, who were fishing with us many days and were so pleased with their catch!  As long as we move on to the season, we will see more inshore action, fun to reel, fight and release!  Panga 27ft “Tres Amigos” got red snapper, trigger fish, jack crevelle and roosters, 5 to 8lbs. for Phillip Rick and Anderson Bernie from South Carolina.  Pisces 31ft “La Brisa” got fifteen triggerfish and three yellow tails in a half day trip in Margaritas spot for Ray Washburn group from California.  “Adriana” 28ft vessel reeled twenty trigger fish, four snooks and two jacks in Margaritas for the Miller family.  Panga 27ft “Tres Amigos” hooked a rooster and needle fish for Sue Ferrell, Jim Hall and Anderson Bernies from South Carolina. All inshore fish were successfully released.  Fifty nine percent of our anglers caught 415 yellow fin tunas, the other 42% a variety of inshore fish: 68 trigger fish, 12 yellow tails,  4 snooks and a bunch of skipjacks, Spanish mackerel and a needle fish, only the nine percent reeled six dorados.

31ft “Tracy Ann” got tight lines for with Corey Pardon and Lana Nogosek from Minot, ND with two good size Dorados!

BILLFISH: The Striped Marlin report increased by seven percent compared to last weekly report! Although the stronger, cooler winter winds coming from the North made fishing a little slower overall, it was still wonderful enough to come down to Cabo and spend a pleasant vacation reeling the fish of your dreams!

The "Andrea" vessel got tight lines for Billy and Michelle Kreft, Andy and Andrea Johnson visiting from Iowa releasing a Striped Marlin, one Dorado and five tunas outside of La Ballena over the Pacific side.  Pisces' vessel "Tracy Ann" had a great trip reeling a Striped Marlin at the Old light House for the group of Dustin Jackson from Jamestown, North Dakota.  Very Lucky guys!  "C Rod" released another Striped Marlin for Scott Fagen and Frank Bennett from Texas State in the same spot over the Pacific.  The Cabo "Hot Rod" a 42ft beauty released in the Pedregalito a Striped Marlin for Sean Lucas and Ryan Dyrbye from British Columbia, Canada.  On February 5th, Pisces' 28ft "Andrea" traveled 30 miles out of the hill and released a Striped Marlin and a tuna for Michael & Suzanne Laster and Heath and Michelle Martin from Oklahoma City.  Captain Ray Winkler's run on Pisces 31ft "La Brisa" to the Golden Gate got a Striped Marlin for David Metz and Dale Helsing from Elko, Nevada.  The only Marlin spotted over the Sea of Cortes was aboard the "Adriana" and its estimated weight was 120 lbs for David & Dale again!  Seventeen percent of our Pisces anglers released 10 Striped Marlin.

OTHER SPECIES: We have an increase for Dorado catches as well, the always ready "Listo" Pisces', 35ft boat, run's to El Molino passing the Old light house got a 25 lbs dorado with live bait for Joe Franz, Greg and Brenda McNew and Brian Mohr from Houston, Texas.  Our 31ft "Ruthless"caught two dorados between 15 to 18 lbs. outside of the Golden for Scott Weaver, Jim Parkin and Wes Smith from Southern Pines, North Carolina. "Tracy Ann", our 31ft boat got tight lines with two dorados and fourteen tunas, between 10 to 20 lbs for Marc Groen and Michael Lindermulder from Orland Park, Illinois.  And our 42ft "Yahoo" with Captain Ricardo went all the way outside of La Ballena, Pacific side and spotted fourteen tunas with cedar plugs and feathers, estimated to weigh ten to twenty pounds for Matt McCarthy's group visiting from Texas.  Our 32ft "Bill Collector" just never stops!  She reeled twenty four tunas, seven released, weighing an estimated 15 to 40 lbs for Bryan Johnson, Hugh Gannon, Matt Curry and Kevin Gleason and guests visiting from Atlanta, GA.  As we moved during the week the tuna pushed out further reaching almost the 40 miles, our 31ft boat "La Brisa" got 10 yellow fin tuna thirty seven miles outside of the Faro for Larry and Jacy Barnwell from Houston, Texas.  Our good friend Chic from Scotland brought sixteen tunas aboard the"Valerie" (a 35ft Pisces vessel), in a long ride to San Jaime Banks.  Forty seven percent of our Pisces customers brought 216 tunas, fifteen percent brought 11 dorados and the one percent reeled small trigger fish only, a bit quiet for smaller species.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report Dec 12 - 18, 2015

BILLFISH: Ho, ho ho!, it feels like Christmas time in Cabo and it looks the billfish have spread out between the steady Pacific side and some parts of Cabo, more specifically between Chileno and Cabo del Sol this week.  “Valerie” Pisces 35ft had a nice day reeling in a Striped Marlin estimated at 180 lbs., one dorado and a small tuna for Peter Karras, Carlos Goncalves and Jomar Labuschagne, visiting Cabo for the first time, coming from Portugal and South Africa!  Pisces “Cabolero” 31ft released a striped Marlin in San Jaime Bank for Jesse & Julie Prather, Mike Summers and Tim Burgarner from Caldwell, Idaho. “Poseidon” Pisces 25ft panga is not a big boat, but nevertheless kept lines busy with a Striped Marlin and four dorado up to 20lbs. for Elbert and Betty Bivins from Jackson, at the Cerros de Arena, on the Pacific side.  Pisces “Tiburon” 31ft also had a great day for a group of Swedish angling friends: Bernt Olson, Nicholas Lund, Sten Gumar and Kjell Kironvall who fought two Striped Marlins and a Sailfish in the same area. “Ruthless” 31ft Bertram headed to La Ballena, over on the Pacific and released a Striped Marlin and two dorados for Kurtis, Shayne and Tyler Millhollin visiting from beautiful Santa Barbara, Ca. “Speedwell” 38ft Pisces reeled two Striped Marlin and three dorados in San Cristobal and Pozo  Cota for Mike, Anna, Tom and Kevin Cole from Sacramento, Ca. good job Captain Piranha!  “Rebecca” Pisces 31ft reeled a Blue Marlin 200 lbs. estimated weight, the crew used a “flying” lure (volador) at the 11.50 spot for more Swedish anglers: Ola Eklund, Johan Ingenmansson and Peter Mucander, good job!  Another Blue and Striped Marlin released aboard “Bill Collector” 32ft Pisces, estimated weight 200 lbs. the crew used the volador lure as well for Frank, Neil an Nancy Muller visiting  from Woodland, California.  On December 17th the “Adriana" and the “Andrea” 28ft ´s Pisces boats did a back to back releasing  two striped marlin outside of the Cerro, for Brian, David, Joselyn & Matt Berry from Grant Bay, Ca. and Brian & Mitchell Sussman from Los Angeles, Ca. respectively.  Finally on December 18th the “Yahoo” 42ft Bertram released two Striped Marlin between 120-130 lbs. outside of the Cerro  for Charlene and John Hattner de Keller, Texas and Jonathan Beyeler from Broadway, Va.  Pisces anglers caught a total of 64 Billfish this week with most successfully released consisting of 58 Striped Marlin, 3 Sailfish and 3 Blue Marlin.

 

 

OTHER SPECIES: Dorado still being quite steady, ranging sizes from 10 to 30 lbs. “Adriana” 28ft Pisces got four dorados  at Migriño for Jeff & Sam Smith from Corpus Christy and Othis Johnson from Houston, Texas.  “Valerie” 35ft Pisces got three dorados with live bait in Pozo Cota for Kathy Sherman from Cheyenne, Wyoming and Linda & Burt Black from Idaho Falls, Idaho.  Captain Ray & Fernando aboard “La Brisa” 31ft Pisces reeled four mahi-mahi estimated 15-30 lbs., at el Cerro del Golden for John Summer group visiting from Camden, Delaware.  “Shambala” 60ft vessel caught five dorados in Margaritas for Alan & Austin Jenkins, Carter Powell & Francis Straw from Sacramento, Ca. and the “Andrea” 28ft Pisces brought six dorados at La Ballena for Jeremy & John Highfill from Fairbanks, Alaska.  Panga “Poseidon” did reel a 35lbs wahoo in front of Cabo del Sol for Jeff Smith group and the “Adriana” 28ft Pisces brought another wahoo 20lbs. at Migriño.  Pangas has been quite successful for Marlin, wahoo and tunas; Panga 23ft “Jessica” Pisces got for the Bivins group six yellow fin tunas, football sizes and really good for lunch. Pisces clients got a total of 81 dorados, 14 tunas and 4 wahoos, representing the 43% for dorado  and the 12% for the Other species.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report Dec 5 - 11, 2015

BILLFISH:  The flurry of marlin activity we saw a couple of weeks ago, when boats reported multiple hook-ups did not last and we saw a substantial drop on billfish catches, however, we know fish are in the area, they are just not super hungry.  Besides, the majority of boats are concentrating on the sure thing which was dorado.  Nevertheless, we had some great catches and we were pleased to encounter a few late season blue marlin, still in the area due to warmer water temperatures.  Attitude Adjustment, a 46 ft. Bertram, had a double marlin day at San Jaime for anglers Philip Davis and Richard Ward – releasing a large striped marlin each, around 160 LBS as well as a pilot shark and six skipjacks.  This same day, December 9th it was our panga Poseidon fishing the other direction, on the edge of the 95 spot that released a small blue marlin, after it took a purple colored lure for long time Pisces friend Bob Sallis from Canada.  Next day out Pisces Ruthless had a blue marlin, this time on the Pacific, with this fish also taking a lure for Barry Reddick from Texas.  Not to be outdone, Tracy Ann went the opposite direction to the other boats and headed to Punta Gorda where they released three striped marlin on live bait, for Stephen Oppenheim and friends from California.  Top catch of the week though has to go to Pisces Bill Collector; they fished at San Jaime on December 11th and released an approximate 200 LB blue marlin, a striped marlin, a pilot shark and boated seven yellowfin tuna; for Paul Linden, Brandon Long and Joe Janovich from Nebraska.  Basically the billfish were spread out this week being found on both the Cortez and Pacific sides with more boats fishing the Pacific due to the strong dorado bite. A few sailfish were also caught.  Blue marlin tended to take lures whereas striped marlin and sailfish preferred live bait. Twenty five percent of Pisces anglers caught a total of 24 billfish consisting of 19 striped marlin, 3 blue marlin and 2 sailfish, all released.

OTHER SPECIES: Anglers had fun this week with double and triple hook ups on dorado up to 25 LBS, which is great as they had been conspicuously absent from our shores for months.  Catches concentrated on the Pacific from La Lobera up to Golden Gate, with areas like Elias Calles, Pozo de Cota and Migrino seeing most action. Tracy Ann had a busy day for Bob Sallis and party at Cerritos as they caught seventeen dorado in the 15 to 22 LB class, six released with a combination of bait and lures working.  Ruthless also had seventeen dorado, caught on December 8th at Gaspareno; five were released for William Hanner and Donovan Smith and friends.  Catches per boat ranged from one to fourteen with some exceptions; the average catch was around seven fish per boat.  Dorado was the most common catch this week with eighty three percent of our charters catching a total of 425 fish.  Some yellowfin tuna were caught this week, mostly at one of the spots famous for them, San Jaime.  The catches were of football size fish, no more than 15 LBS and catches of up to seven fish resulting in a total catch of 39 fish for ten percent of the boats.  A couple of boats had great mixed catches starting with Bill Collector on December 5th with Boston, Mass. Anglers Seth & Chris Frattasio on board; they did very well to release a 170 LB striped marlin, a pilot shark, boat four dorado and catch seven yellowfin tuna and thirteen skipjacks.  The Kilburg party from Scottsdale, Arizona had an outstanding day on Valerie with a sailfish released, four yellowfin tuna, two dorado and ten skipjacks (eight released).  Other catches were closer to shore and consisted of mainly skipjack and the odd sierra here and there.

LOCATION: Mostly Pacific, Gaspareno, La Lobera, Elias Calles, San Jaime, on the Cortez 95 spot and Punta Gorda.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: Clear skies, with the exception of a sudden and heavy downpour accompanied by light winds on Friday night, seas mostly calm.

AVERAGE WATER TEMP: 79 F (first time below 80 F in months)

BEST LURES: Live caballito, pink/blue, purple, green/red, yellow, cedar plugs.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report Nov 7 - 13, 2015

BILLFISH: Marlin fishing is in a transition stage right now, that is, the catches are still good, but we are waiting for an influx of striped marlin from further up the Pacific.  In the meantime we are still seeing catches of late season blue & black marlin as well as sailfish.  Weather is starting to change which means fishing can be less consistent on a daily basis.  Hot Rod, the latest addition to the fleet is already proving to be one of our best & this crew did not disappoint for Dave Bulthuis, Costa Del Mar tournament sponsor, when they were able to release his son Chet’s first ever blue marlin which was tagged & released, estimated at 220 LBS on November 7th.  This wasn’t the only great catch this day; Pisces Yahoo released a much sought after black marlin, not huge at around 160 LBS, but nevertheless a nice catch for Craig Bentham from Canada Dan Brendes & friends had a great day out aboard Pisces Listo on November 10th when they were able to release three striped marlin & boat four dorado up to 20 LBS at Pozo de Cota.  Out this same day was the Mercier group from Florida aboard Pisces Valerie who did even a little better with four striped marlin released & three dorado boated.  Not to be left out and with a respectable catch of three marlin released & eight dorado was Yahoo with Florida anglers Francesca & George Filafas. Pisces Tracy Ann always seems to make the fish report & this week was no exception; on November 12th, Corey Hopkins, Ron & Paige Simonson fished outside the Herradura & did very well to catch & release a blue marlin, two striped marlin & eight yellow fin tuna.  Pretty much all the catches were on the Pacific side.  Forty three percent of Pisces anglers caught a total of 66 billfish this week, consisting of 60 striped marlin, 2 blue marlin, 1 black marlin & 3 sailfish.

OTHER SPECIES: Dorado was the most popular catch this week with a respectable 213 fish caught by sixty percent of our anglers.  Catches ranged from one to eleven fish with weights from 15 to 30 LBS.  Pisces La Brisa had one of the better dorado catches with eleven caught off of Elias Calles, plus a striped marlin released, a little further up at Golden Gate for George Fee & party from New Jersey.  Another boat to do well & keep their anglers busy all day was Pisces Rebecca with ten dorado, one roosterfish & one needlefish.  Another high dorado boat was Tracy Ann with not only eight dorado, but two striped marlin released & two roosterfish for British anglers Gary Morrison & Kevin Moreton.  Although lures did work, live caballito was definitely the way to get more hook ups.  Tuna catches were on a par with last week at sixteen percent, but when found the catches tended to be multiple & up to fourteen fish, though the norm was three to ten fish.  Our total tuna catch was of 92 fish.  Roosterfish increased slightly but were seldom bigger than 10 or 15 LBS. Inshore triggerfish, needlefish, bonitas, skipjacks & sierra were all caught but in conservative quantities.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: November is our favorite time of the year, sunny with calm seas.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report October 3 - 9, 2015

BILLFISH:  It seems that finally summer has come to an end , ushered in by a flurry or rainy days that cool everything off, before the sun re-emerges making the days hot again, but not like they were a few weeks ago.  Fishing remains on track and excellent though not every boat is catching fish every day, nevertheless there was plenty of action on striped marlin which are increasing in number, still a lot of blues around, albeit smaller ones and a good amount of sailfish too.  C Rod was out of the gate at the beginning of this report with two blue marlin released, small at 150-160 lbs., plus a striped marlin and a few tuna at the San Jaime bank for the Titmus family from Las Vegas, on October 3rd.  A couple of days after this we saw lots of action with Cabolero releasing a 230 lb. blue marlin plus two striped marlin as well as boating a 105 lb. tuna for Ohio anglers Gavin, Larry and Keith, 20 to 30 miles out.   This same day Listo had both a blue marlin and a sailfish and a couple of tuna.  Jorge Koosis from Argentina was disappointed to lose a three hour fight he had with a 400 lb. blue marlin on the Pacific side aboard Tiburon.  Billy King and Elizabeth Thomson from New York had a thrilling but tiring day aboard 31 ft. Cabo Cabolero with what seems to be the catch of the week; a blue marlin, three striped marlin and a sailfish released and a tuna boated – all at the Herradura – well done Captain Lupe!  Hot Rod is the newest addition to Pisces, a beautiful 42 ft. Cabo with an outstanding crew who are already proving themselves popular and who wouldn’t be with catches like they had on October 8th with the Hewitt’s and Gowland’s aboard from Austin, Texas.  They release a blue marlin, a striped marlin and landed a couple of tuna, the largest of which was 165 lbs. –bigger than the striped marlin they released.  Pisces Ruthless a 31 ft. Bertram closed out the week with an unbelievable catch for Ernesto and Roxanne Rojas, fishing with Michael Jennings, all from Texas at the 180 spot – their catch consisted of a blue marlin, striped marlin, four pilot sharks, two dorado and one tuna – the sharks and billfish were released.  Pisces anglers caught a total of 78 billfish this week, consisting of 41 striped marlin, 21 sailfish and 16 blue marlin.
 

OTHER SPECIES:  After billfish tuna were the next most likely catch and just like last week, fewer boats found tuna but when they did they managed to catch between one and twelve.  Several large fish were caught, which makes us eager for November to be her and the Tuna Tournament to start – many qualifiers being taken right now.  Pisces Tracy Ann had a respectable 180 lb. tuna, taken on an orange and black lure, on October 3rd 38 miles out for Gavin Narburgh from Ohio.  Bruce Chounick from Florida had his work cut out for him aboard Valerie on October 4th with five tuna, the largest at 160 lbs., plus a striped marlin released, ten miles out from the Old Lighthouse.  La Brisa and Cabolero also had 100 lb. plus fish this week along with several other boats.  Not much happening on small game but then again we weren’t really trying with offshore fishing so good.  Just one wahoo for us this week, plus a hammerhead shark released along with the pilot sharks mentioned in this report.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report September 19 - October 2, 2015

BILLFISH: Before summer began there was some trepidation as to how the “El Nino” current would affect fishing, plus dire predictions for an active hurricane season.  So far the fears have been unfounded and in fact we are enjoyed some of the best summer fishing in years.  We don’t really have four seasons in Cabo, its’ summer – hot from July to mid-October and then spring from November to June, of course in varying degrees.  Southern California has also benefited from warmer than normal sea and air temperature and last week we saw two blue marlin hung up in San Diego in the 300 to 650 lb. class, unheard of in years.  This report Cabo saw several days of rain and a day when the Port Captain closed the port.  There were up and down days, with the down days tending to be after commercial tuna boats had swept the area, but the plentiful days outnumbered the slow days with billfish the most likely hook up.  We had many outstanding catches and are not able to mention them all, but Pisces Tracy Ann, a 31 ft. Bertram, definitely gets the top boat award this report.  On October 1st South Carolina anglers Andrew Feix and Paul Long were out with Captain Julio Castro aboard Tracy Ann and had travelled further than most boats venture; they were out 42 miles but it was well worth it.  They managed to release two blue marlin, a striped marlin and what appeared to be a white marlin – however, the consensus is that it was probably a juvenile striped marlin, as white marlin are only found in the Atlantic.  Without a tissue sample it is impossible to tell, but the anglers thought it better to release all their billfish.  They did however keep three tunas for the table.  Now that’s an incredible day of fishing!  Next day out Tracy Ann had Minneapolis anglers Bradley and Daniel Rhoades on board, along with Stephen Lawles they headed offshore again this time 38 miles and again did well, releasing two blue marlin and boating a 50 lb. tuna.  Earlier in the week this same boat released a blue marlin, sailfish, pilot shark and boated a dorado for Los Angeles anglers Juden Valdez and Mike Revilla.  Jason Allard and John Quillard from Michigan headed out on La Brisa towards the 95 spot; a nice blue marlin came up and inhaled two of the live baits they had set out.  The fish was a nice size at just over 300 lbs.  This wasn’t  the only nice blue,  Bill Collector a 32 ft. Cabo, released a 300 lb. blue marlin for Texas anglers Jeff & John Black as well as boating three tuna up to 45 lbs.  On September 22nd this same boat released two sailfish, a striped marlin, two pilot sharks and boated a dorado for Crystal and Jason from Apple Valley, California.  A really rare catch this week was a tiny baby striped marlin, weighing no more than 10 lbs., it was safely released aboard Tiburon by Edward Coleman and friends North Carolina September 26th, but this wasn’t the only one, Mike Hansen fishing aboard Adriana also released a slightly bigger baby, around 15 lbs. just below San Jaime. Larry and Deana Lybarger from Coco Beach, Florida had an outstanding day aboard La Brisa on September 21st – having a grand slam of a blue marlin, striped marlin and two sailfish released, plus a tuna kept.  These were some of the best catches and we could go on and on.  Of course we did have some boats “skunked” but even those that didn’t catch at least saw fish.  Pisces anglers caught a total of 105 billfish, consisting of 39 striped marlin, 18 blue marlin and 48 sailfish. All but three fish were released.

 

OTHER SPECIES:  Fewer boats caught tuna than marlin or sailfish but when they did catch tuna the numbers were better, with catches of up to fourteen yellowfin per boat.  Not only were they numerous many were of a good size. Pisces  C Rod was the only boat out on a rainy and stormy day (port was closed to all boats under 38 feet) despite the weather they did really well for a group of anglers from Georgia, catching twenty tuna ranging from 10 lbs. all the way up to an impressive 171 lb. fish.  Bill Collector had a nice day for tuna 38 miles offshore, for Mark Chiavetta and friends from San Jose, California; they managed to boat six tuna ranging in size from 25 to 150 lbs.  Worthy of mention also is Shambala’s 136 lb. tuna caught at San Jaime by Mark Moncilovic and friends. Pisces anglers caught a total of 271 tuna this week. Dorado catches were on the slow side with just 14 caught for our fleet.  There were several wahoo up to 50 lbs. as well as a few roosterfish snappers, skipjacks and triggerfish.

WEATHER:  Partly cloudy, hot, mostly calm seas, several rainy days.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report August 22nd to August 28th 2015

BILLFISH:  Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin and Sailfish are here! We are just a week away from our hot September!, that means humidity and hard core fishermen  focusing on one thing: Big game and upcoming Tournament Season.   Pisces Ruthless is on fire!  Two striped marlin up to  160 lb., one sailfish estimated at 80 lb., one dorado close to 25 lbs at  Pozo de Cota and Los Arcos, on the Pacific side gave an outstanding day to the Todd Schafer group visiting from California, all billfish successfully released!  Andrea our 28 ft Uniflite managed to released a 190 lb. Blue Marlin and a good sized Sailfish at Punta Gorda with the Ferreiro group from New Jersey.  Listo  released a Striped Marlin and a Sailfish at the 95 Spot in the Sea of Cortes with the Bryan Keene Group from New Mexico and Oregon, good job!  On August 23rd Pisces Rebecca hooked up an 185 lb. Blue Marlin for the Wilson-Lundquist  & Taquino-Hendrix Group from San Francisco, California.  Mr. Phong  Vuong and friends from Houston, Texas celebrated his 50th birthday  aboard the 42ft Pisces Yahoo and his favorite  boat , 38ft CRod where he released a 60 lb. baby Striped Marlin and reeled in some good size tunas up to 40 lbs. on the Pacific side, Happy Birthday again! Pisces Rebecca released a Sailfish on August 24th from Brian Reynolds visiting from Boise, Idaho.

August 25th Pisces Tracy Ann gave the fight with two Sailfish to Hailey group visiting as well from Hauser, Idaho. 31ft Pisces Tiburon over Punta Gorda released Striped marlin around 120 lb. for Brian Bowen and group from Saginaw, Texas.  Also 31ft Rebecca got a busy day for Alan and Sandra Younger with two striped marlin one sailfish and a pilot shark.  Ruthless did it again with a 350 lb. Blue Marlin outside of Punta Gorda, with Jason Charo, Jeff Dewease and Tom Sands from Houston, Texas.  Another Blue Marlin for Mahmood Somani visiting from London released aboard the 42ft Yahoo!;  32ft Pisces Bill Collector fought another Blue Marlin of 200 lb. outside of la Herradura, Sea of Cortes with David-Winfrey Group from New York, Georgia and Texas.  On August 27th 35ft Listo released one good size Sailfish 130 lb. in San Jaime for David and Messie Almasy from California.  The last day of our week, we had lots of action for billfish: Pisces 28ft Adriana, released Striped Marlin in Cerro de Arena and two yellow fin tunas (20 lb.)  for Reeves-Snuffer group from West Virginia; Andrea and Tracy Ann released Striped marlin and yellow fin tunas in Los Arcos  for Rob Kellog from Texas and Adam Shrout from Los Angeles, California. 31ft  La Brisa and  Ruthless got hooked on Sailfish one over Punta Gorda for Cristina and Craig Downer from Kalamazoo, Mi. and the second over San Jaime for Dewease Group visiting from Houston, Texas.  Our  46ft Attitude Adjustment behaved releasing a Blue Marlin estimated 200 lb. for the Ginilli Group from San Francisco, Ca.  Pisces anglers released a total of 44 billfish this week, consisting of 24 Striped Marlin, 14 Sailfish and 6 Blue Marlin.

OTHER SPECIES:  Tuna, tuna, tuna good sizes!  Starting on August 22nd with Pisces Knot Working with 30 lb. tunas over San Jaime for the Keene Group from Arizona and New Mexico;  August 23rd the 28ft Andrea got a 40 pounder in the same area for Powell-Cooper-Wolcott from Roseburg, Oregon;  28ft Andrea fought two yellow fin tunas ranging from 20 to 45 lbs. in Cabrillo, Sea of Cortes for Ferreiro family visiting from New York.  On August 25th Knot Working again gave a fought to 40 minutes and lost a 150 lbs. tuna over the Pedregal area.  31ft Cabolero got a 40 lb. in Cerro de Arena, for Jack Hunter Group from Strongville, Ohio.  And 24ft panga Poseidon got two tunas from 30 to 50 lb. for Cody Wood from Alpine, Texas. Two Wahoo were spotted this week, one 35 lb. aboard the Pisces Listo and one 25 lb.  on Rebecca, over the 95 and San Jaime area.  We got some action for Mahi- Mahi as well ranging from 10 lb. to 25 lb. aboard Pisces Andrea & Ruthless over Pozo Cota, Cabeza de Ballena & 95 Spot. Panga Poseidon caught two as well!  We also saw some Sharks!  Yes, sharks! Three Sardine sharks over 100 lb. and one Pilot shark  75 lb. with La Brisa and Rebecca all of them over Punta Gorda.  For inshore besides the great tuna and dorado in pangas we saw lots of skipjacks and pierna fish which is great for lunch.  We had a total of 36 big game species this week, 24 yellow fin tunas, 10 Mahi Mahi, 4 sharks and bunch of skipjacks.
